Girl Next Door/FRIENDSHIP

Anyway, my main point of this entry is that I find the initial parts of the lyrics for this song pretty corny.

"You're my friend! I'm your friend!
Omoide Hanabi Ima mo mune ni kagayaiteru"

It's as lame as 'I am you! You're me!' but I did teach such a phrase to my friends some time back. <(゜Д゜)<

But I don't have a right to say anything since I do admit that I did like 'So Yesterday' by Hilary Duff a few years back. (though everyone was saying how corny the lyrics were)

By the way, if you happen to see the video above, I think Chisa (the vocalist) in the first few scenes give me the impression that the producers are trying to get her to imitate Kelly Hu. (the leather, hairstyle, etc etc)

OMG! An entry in almost like dunnoe how many months?!

Well, blame blogger for that. I couldn't post anything for a while and when I finally checked back today, the site's up again.

Hooray.

I've just took a shower so I'm going to cut my nails now. Be right back in 15 minutes.

.....................................

.................................

.....................

.........

....

..Back!

Anyway, here's a usual update of how I've been recently. So those of you who thought I was dead, you can heave a sigh of relief or it's too bad that I'm still alive. =P

1. Birthday Gift

Thanks for the Kinokuniya vouchers! The ones who gave me that present should know who they are. (Dun want to mention their names in case other people think I'm having an ulterior motive for doing so.)

Anyway, I didn't expect that one coming so thanks once again!

2. Back to school

I resumed school 'bout last week so I've been kinda' busy with school. And it looks like I have so many assignments to hand up during the X'mas day season. Whether I can go out or not will depend whether I've finished the assignments. (chance of going out = 5% most likely since I delay doing work)

For those who are in the same course as me, I'm taking Introduction to Biz & Management, Organisation Theory, Micro and Macroeconomics. Crazy modules with heavily huge contents.

Now those who are not of SIM, please don't get the idea that SIM is so slack until you can study last minute. I've nearly got my fingers burnt during the exams last term. SIM may be slack but the material is no easy matter.

3. Fansubbing

I've left my job of doing amateur translations for an anime fansub group, officially for the matter. So anyway, I'm not doing translation jobs until the school term ends next year.

4. Lesser on Everything

And that means I'm cutting down on stuff that I do currently. E.g. anime-watching, music-listening, internet-surfing and going out. Of course, blogging, mugging for the JLPT and playing visual novels are exceptions. And not to mention, my active blog on lang-8.

For those who think that I'm trying to avoid you cuz I don't want to go out, I seriously don't have the time to go out nowadays because I need to do a lot of textbook readings this term. And there are lot of bloody (insert 'family' here) functions every other weekend which I probably try to skip by saying that I need to mug.

Anyway, in short, when I'm free to go out, I'm giving the green light. If not, it seriously means no. Respect the decisions of others and others will respect your decision. If you choose to call others childish and make a tantrum because you don't get what you want, the only person who is childish may be yourself.

5. No money for online shopping

Looks like I blew my limits this month. I'll have to wait for next month. T_T

蚊取線香/Mosquito Coil

I thought that I would do the translation of one song called "蚊取線香" by Ai Otsuka. The translation for the title would be Katori-senkou, which means mosquito coil.

So here's the translation:

蚊…
Mosquito.... (many many times repeated)

あそこにこっちに あそこにこっちに
There and here, There and here
甘い血を狙う蚊が飛び交っている
Mosquitoes craving sweet blood are hovering around
あたしの血がそれはそれはきれいでおいしいからって
Because my blood is that clean and delicious
ケツ青いわ!!
My bottom is blue!!

負けるもんか 負けるもんか
I won't lose! I won't lose!
蚊を叩け!蚊取り線香使ってやるわ
Strike the mosquitoes! Use the mosquito coil!

蚊…
Mosquito.... (many times)

向こうにもそこにも 向こうにもそこにも
The other side and there too, The other side and there too
おなかをすかした蚊が
Mosquitoes who have empty stomachs
いい夢気分の途中 耳元で飛ぶなよ あっちで飛べよ
In the middle of a good dream, don't come close to my ear! Go over there!

負けるもんか 負けるもんか
I won't lose! I won't lose!
蚊を叩け!!蚊取り線香使うしかない
Strike the mosquitoes! I have to use the mosquito coil!

どうしてあんた達が噛んだところは
Why do the parts which you bit me
かゆみが増していくの?
itch more and more?
迷惑こうむる出来事です
It's so troublesome!

蚊…
Mosquitoes...
蚊を叩け…
Strike the mosquitoes

Mosquitoes...
蚊を叩け…
Strike the mosquitoes
蚊取線香早くたこう
Start the mosquito coil burning quickly!

It's pretty much of a lame song, isn't it? But I like it anyway.

Just a small update + birthday information

For those who are like wondering where I went, and why I have not been updating this blog much, I'm obsessed with lang-8. And as most of you know, it's hard to maintain multiple blogs at one go.

By the time I complete a blog entry on lang-8, I can't be bothered to add another blog entry on Blogger here. So for those who were like wondering whether I got into some senseless depression, kidnapped, ran away from home etc, don't be mistaken.

Anyway, you can find me on lang-8. It has the same nickname as my current one on MSN so my profile should not be hard to find.

And for those who were expecting me to tell you that it was my birthday, you're wrong. I'm not a cheapo whore who would accost every person to tell him/her, 'Huh-loo there~! It's moi birthdayz, ya know?'

I removed the birthday reminder on Facebook so that nobody will realise it. Birthdays these days are SO overrated so don't drag me into your crazy habit of reminding others that it's your birthday. You're being a nuisance to people if you do so. (Erm...I'm not insulting everyone I know...some of you might know who I am trying to say actually.)

Next thing, please don't get the idea that I'm trying to make myself a ultimate hikikomori. I just don't see any value in going to upper-end places when I probably can't afford the goods there. So please let me off and only ask me out if you're going to middle-end places because I don't want to be an embarassing sight to you.

Some Music Digs

I have been recently been into some music anyway.

It might sound boring but let me introduce some music (which the typical Jpop-only user will not know)

1. angela - Spiral

The theme song for Asura Cryin'. Here's the official PV:

And the anime PV for it:

2. May'n - Kimi Shinitamo Koto Nakare

Here's the anime PV for it:

And the official PV for it:

3. ALI PROJECT - Jigoku no Mon

I know the single cover looks stupid.

Anyway, it's the ending theme to PHANTOM.

Here's the official PV to it:

Sadly there are no anime PVs for this.

4. abingdon boys' school - JAP

It sounds pretty racist especially when there was a sentence called, 'I AM JAP!!!'

It's the opening theme to Sengoku Basara. Here's the official PV for it:

This is the anime PV, but it's one of the dumbest. So watch it at your own risk.

Dear me.

Please spot the mistake.

No prize for digging it out.

Some pretty useless Japanese words

Since I can't lie down while I've just finished eating a meal, I thought I'd blog for a while. (I do my study on my mattress so I need to lie down.)

Anyway, a few days back, I was going through the JLPT vocabulary list and talking to some people on the JLPT study forum. I noticed that there are some words which JLPT will never teach you and probably your teacher from Japanese class will probably never teach i.e. you have to find it out yourself.

So let me just write some crap here so that I'm done with much digestion after finishing this entry.

1.オレ様(oresama)

basically means 'I, the great one'...tend to be used by people with huge ego

source: many anime with idiotic egoistic heroes or sidekicks

2.デレデレ (dere dere)

means to blush...coupled with tsundere characters from anime

source: probably the more romantic anime

3.テメェ (temee)

probably something that your teacher will never teach you because it's vulgar and it plainly means 'you bastard!'

source: ichigo from bleach says it all the time and quite a number of characters in bleach

4.ニャンニャンする (nyan nyan suru)

basically means to flirt just like how you see cats play with each other; used to refer to doing naughty things

source: akikan; said by kakeru who indeed is a pervert

5.ああいう人は… (aa iu hito wa...)

it means 'that kind of person...blah blah'; just a random word

source: saber from fate/stay night tends to say it and kinoko nasu likes using this phrase

6.我が友 (wa ga tomo)

it means 'my dear friend' and is probably archaic japanese...probably used to flatter one's friends by speaking in a very ancient tone

source: they are my noble masters; ageha likes speaking in olden japanese

7.馬鹿するな!(baka suru na!)

it means 'dont make fun of me'

source: used by characters in anime who are idiots after all

8.あくまで執事ですから/悪魔で執事ですから (akumade shitsuji desukara/akuma de shitsuji desukara)

another lame phrase i learnt in anime and it means 'one hell of a butler'

it's a pun by the way

source: kuroshitsuji; sebastian uses it frequently

9.とある… (to aru...)

some grammar phrase meaning 'a certain....'

i like its usage though

source: to aru majutsu no index

10.螺旋 (rasen)

technically meaning spiral and spiral

or maybe it means paradigm by kinoko nasu

source: kara no kyokai; the chapter mujun rasen (矛盾螺旋)

11.もらった!(moratta!)

this means 'you're mine' when one is about to kill an enemy

source: many fighting anime

12.喰らえ!(kurae!)

this means 'take that!' when giving a punch

source: many fighting anime

13.しばっくれるな/恍けるな (shibakkureru na/tobokeru na)

it just means 'dont act dumb'

source: many, many anime, my dear

14.肉棒 (nikubou)

if you can read kanji, you can probably its meaning

source: you should know what

15.ムラムラする (mura mura suru)

plainly means to get excited (in most context, a very perverted tone)

source: you still should know what

16.怨みを晴らす (urami wo harasu)

it means 'to cleanse thy greviances'

source: jigoku shoujo

hmmm...16 words it seems. Okay, I shall stop here since my digestion has been going on for some time. I'll write more when I remember.

Bye.

RESET

I'm kinda glad that Japanese TV is in HD format these days so it's pretty pleasant for the eyes when watching the dramas. Anime quality is still wanting in that though.

Anyway I've been watching this episodic series called RESET, which is derived from a horror manga. It's not exactly scary but it explores more of alternate world and life-concerning decisions.

I'll just post an example of episode 4 today.

The story starts with Nodoka, some working woman whom her boyfriend breaks up with her because many 'weird things' have been happening between the two of them. (a lame excuse to break up)

Nodoka is walking home drunk when she breaks one of her high heels and falls. Since she just broke up and is pissed at her ex, she throws the broken stiletto at some man in front who happens to see her. And his name is Totani.
And blah blah, from the scene you can tell they are gonna become a couple.
The scene cuts to Nodoka in hospital, about a month later from the time she met Totani. She's now with her childhood friend, Ryuu. Apparently she can't remember a single thing for the past month i.e. she doesn't recall anything about being in a relationship with Totani.
Ryuu tells her that Totani and her were in an accident and she survived miraculously. But it was unfortunate that Totani passed away instead.
He tells her it was better for her to forget Totani to lessen her pain instead of trying to regain her lost memory of him.
The RESET man arrives in grand style. He tells her that he's totally alright although she insists that he should take a seat judging from his bandages and crutches.

The RESET man tells her that if she wants to regain her memory, she should press the YES buttom to reset her life. The option menu strangely appears on her handphone screen.

Nodoka 'resets' and she managed to get along with Totani again. She's with Ryuu where Totani comes to see her. Ryuu is her childhood friend as mentioned before and also her senior at university then.

During one of their outings, Totani brings a large variety of drinks and Nodoka likes the coffee can the most. And so he tries to take a photo of her posing with the can. That is until she hits someone by mistake while moving backwards.

The man isn't happy with Nodoka, telling her that she can't just solve this matter by just apologising. Totani gets into a fight with the man and wins apparently. He escapes though.
Nodoka realises that this could be the trigger to the accident later on.

A few days later, Ryuu tells Nodoka that he had seen Totani collaborating with the man to make up the fight scene to impress her. He tells her that she should avoid being with Totani.

Nodoka didn't call Totani for a day until he sends her voice mail at night. He suggests going out for a spin in his car the next day. Nodoka realises that that day he suggested was the day of the accident he was going to die in. She calls him immediately and begs him not to go for it. Instead she suggests that he comes over to her apartment instead.

The next day Totani didn't come but the police came instead. They were investigating a report that Totani had murdered the man he had supposedly bribed. Nodoka is perplexed and doesn't really know what exactly is going on.

Totani calls her as soon as the police leaves. He tells her to meet at the place where they frequently meet. She interrogates him causing him to turn hysterical. He tells her that she did not commit homicide in the first place and was framed. As he pushes onto the car, the boot's button is pressed by accident.

In the boot, Nodoka sees the corpse of Ryuu in it. She becomes clear of what has happened. The police jumps in time to arrest Totani.

Nodoka regrets sacrificing Ryuu's life for Totani's sake. The RESET man arrives in a stereotypical kimono worn by ghosts and tells her that she must make a choice. She has to either not reset and stay in a world where Ryuu is dead or reset where Totani must be sacrificed.

The RESET man places a coin in a water tube. Before the coin reaches the bottom of this water tube, she must choose to reset or not. Nevertheless, as most people can predict, she chooses to reset back to sacrificing Totani.

Nodoka returns to back where she was. She's glad to see Ryuu alive and sound again. He tells her that he'll come to see her again and gives her her favourite can of coffee.
As soon as he's gone, it's pretty fishy how Ryuu managed to know her favourite can of coffee since she only told Totani about it. Nodoka decides to investigate.

At the carpark, she gets the security guard to replay the video. Her guess is right. Ryuu has indeed being stalking her and Totani all along. And he has even gone to the extent of disabling the car brakes which caused the accident.

She is convinced when Ryuu breaks into the office. He tells that he has no choice but to strangle her.

Alongside stabbing the security guard with a knife. And that's the end of the episode.

Anyway, what this episode tries to tell is that there isn't a 100% guarantee that everyone will be safe and sound if a decision is made. If Nodoka wants to save Totani, Ryuu will die. If she chooses Ryuu, Totani dies and she will die as well. And choosing back a situation may result in one's bad end.

So far I'm impressed with this episode in managing to surprise me (though I did suspect that there must be something wrong with Ryuu but he really acted as though he had no designs on Nodoka at all...in fact, it was more plausible for Totani to instigate someone to make up a fight scene with him). The previous episodes were pretty normal enough for me to remain comment-less about them.

And in the resetted scenario, Ryuu was probably caught by Totani (in trying to disable the brakes) and killed by mistake. The bribing was perhaps only Ryuu lying and just to break up Nodoka and Totani.

Interesting choices.

'Singapore' = 'Cheating Spouses'?

I was a little bored a little while ago and I thought that I would type in 'Singapore' in Google.
Unfortunately, I saw some interesting advertisements instead. (the circled zone)
